Street Spanish  

Dr. Maynard originally created this program for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1999. It was aimed at the Physical Plant employees who were having difficulty communicating due to the high influx of Hispanic workers.

The program is growing immensely and reaches out to everyone who desires some Spanish in his or her vocabulary, for whatever reason.

Dr. Maynard wishes to not only promote diversity, friendship, and understanding, but also aims to make it a fun and desirable experience! Hopefully you will also be able to rise above your fears of learning another language in the process.

A 2-hour class, along with the textbook and dictionary, get you started on your adventure.
From using voices such as Cheech, Bill Dana, and Speedy Gonzales, to singing, laughing, and playing, Dr. Maynard creates a genuinely FUN way to learn Street Spanish. It makes you want to eat often at Mexican restaurants and hop the next flight to Cancun.

When you finish, you may even be proud to add the phrase "some Spanish" to your job application

This is NOT the program for you if you desire diplomatic fluency or are obsessed with sentence structure and verb conjugation. Its sole purpose is to create a win-win situation for our increasingly diverse society in the arena of language, a barrier which must be overcome rapidly.
